The intent is to provide a place for someone to post notice they have a reservation they can not use do to scheduling conflict or someone in their group of paid reservations has dropped out. Likewise it gives someone seeking a reservation an opportunity to secure a reservation, that is otherwise unobtainable due to sold out conditions.
In 2017 the spreadsheet was effectively used by people swapping dates. They couldn’t get a desired date when initially calling in. But took something available. Then successfully traded with someone that had dates that worked with their schedule. So its not all doom and gloom. We just have to stress the risks here.
Spreadsheet entries are suppose to a be a means for the seller to get exactly what they prepaid up front. So they aren’t our their money. It is no to be a profiteering scalping opportunity. Buyer should be getting the reservation at original cost.
Payment arrangements and guarantee of a good reservation is where things get dicey. BEWARE OF SCAMS!!!!!
Be sure you are aware of all the rules and procedures you must follow to get names on reservations switched. Check with the Havasupai Camper/Tourist office for the latest process.
Reservation changes may be impossible in 2018? We are hearingpreliminary info there may be additional charges for “Reservation Changes” in 2018 ? The current holder of the reservation normally has to initiate the change, not the buyer? How do you make payment and have a guarantee you have a reservation? We don’t have the answers. It is your responsibility to satisfy your needs in this case. Buyer or Seller.

REMEMBER THE RESERVATION CHANGES MUST BE DONE WITH THE OFFICIAL HAVASUPAI CAMPER/TOURIST OFFICE! REGARDLESS IF YOU PAY SOMEONE ELSE OR NOT FOR THEIR FREED UP RESERVATION! KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE YOU PARTING WITH YOUR MONEY!
On any reservation alterations. It is your responsibility, yours totally, to make sure your name is added under any reservation number you are entering the area under. The Reservation holder is really the only one that can call to make the alteration. Trying to call through the Havasupai Reservation system is difficult if not down right impossible many times of the year. After the alteration takes place I would think the buyer would need to then confirm?

Be sure you know who you are dealing with. We recommend you pay by credit card so that you might have some recourse to stop payment or refund payment. But again all of that is totally your responsibility.
In the case of ride sharing, solo arrangements may not be a safe arrangement. Any arrangement is at your own risk. For both Drivers and Riders. Also any negotiated monetary reimbursement agreements are totally between Driver and Rider(s).
Many think you should have a copy of the other persons valid ID (Both Drivers and Riders) and give that to a loved one before your trip. Discuss it between both parties when making arrangements. Rider ask for it prior to taking off, verify their photo/information, snap a smart phone photo of it and the vehicle plate, and text it to your loved one. Vice versa for the driver (minus the plate of course).
